For Colchester organisations, the simplest way to train first aiders is to have the course come to you. Essex Medical Training delivers regulated first aid courses at workplaces, schools, care settings and nurseries across Colchester and north Essex, for one fixed fee per group and with no travel charge.
Our trainers are healthcare professionals with frontline emergency ambulance and emergency department experience, and they are in Colchester regularly. Individual learners are welcome on scheduled courses at our training centre in Battlesbridge, south of Chelmsford.
How On-Site Training In Colchester Works
1. You tell us what you need. The course, roughly how many people, and the dates or days of the week that suit you. If you are not sure which course is right, we will help you work it out.
2. We confirm a date and a fixed price. One fee covers up to 12 learners, the trainer, all equipment, course books and certificates. Colchester is inside our standard area, so there is nothing added for travel.
3. We come to you. The trainer arrives with manikins, defibrillator trainers and everything else. You provide a room with space to move around.
4. Your team is certificated. Learners who pass receive a regulated qualification valid for three years.

Who We Train In Colchester
Schools and nurseries. Colchester has one of the largest groups of schools in Essex. We train staff in workplace and paediatric first aid, and deliver whole-staff allergy awareness training on INSET days and as twilight sessions.
Health and care providers. Care homes, home care agencies, clinics and community health teams need life support and moving and handling training kept up to date alongside first aid. Being taught by clinicians matters most here.
Employers of every size. From city centre shops, restaurants and offices to the business parks and industrial estates around Severalls, Whitehall and Stanway, each workplace has its own risks. A warehouse or workshop usually needs the three-day First Aid at Work qualification; an office or shop may only need the one-day course.
We deliver across the city and the surrounding area, including Stanway, Lexden, Highwoods, Mile End, Greenstead, Wivenhoe, Tiptree and West Mersea, and on into Tendring.
Booking As An Individual
If you need a single place, our scheduled courses run at our training centre in Battlesbridge, between Chelmsford and Southend. From Colchester it is around 35 miles by road, most of it on the A12 and A130.

Parking is free and first aid courses run from 09:00 to 16:00. Emergency First Aid at Work is £125 + VAT per person and First Aid at Work is £265 + VAT.
Is On-Site Training Worth It For A Small Team?
The group fee is the same whether you train five people or twelve, so it pays to fill the room. For Emergency First Aid at Work, the group fee equals six individual places, so on-site training is cheaper from seven learners. For the three-day First Aid at Work course it is cheaper from eight.
Smaller Colchester organisations are welcome to share a session with a neighbouring business, school or nursery to make up the numbers. If you only have two or three people to train, individual places at our training centre will cost less.
