Essex Medical Training delivers first aid training for Southend-on-Sea employers, schools, childcare settings and individual learners. You can send staff to our training centre in Battlesbridge, around ten miles from Southend city centre, or we can bring the course to your premises anywhere in Southend, Leigh-on-Sea, Westcliff, Shoeburyness and the surrounding area.
Every course is taught by healthcare professionals with frontline ambulance and emergency department experience, so your team learns from people who deal with real emergencies, using practical scenarios instead of slides alone.

Why Southend Organisations Choose Us
We are not the cheapest provider in Essex and we do not try to be. Our aim is that people leave able to act when it matters.
Taught By Frontline Clinicians
Our trainers come from frontline emergency ambulance and busy emergency department backgrounds, and the majority have worked in those roles for more than a decade.
Practical, Scenario-Based Sessions
Learners practise CPR, defibrillator use, bleeding control and casualty care on full training equipment, with scenarios shaped around the kind of work they do.
At Your Premises Or Ours
Book individual places on scheduled courses at Battlesbridge, or have a trainer come to your Southend site with all the equipment and train your team together.
Regulated Qualifications
Workplace and paediatric courses lead to regulated qualifications, with certificates valid for three years.
Clear, Published Prices
Course prices are shown on this page and our on-site group prices are published in full, so you can budget before you enquire.
A Full Training Pathway
From one-day workplace first aid through to First Response Emergency Care, with experience supporting NHS services, private ambulance teams, care groups and schools.
First Aid Courses For Southend Learners
The right course depends on your role and, for employers, on your first aid needs assessment. Prices below are per person on a scheduled course at our training centre and exclude VAT.
On-Site First Aid Training In Southend
If you have several people to train, it usually costs less and causes less disruption to train them together at your own premises. Our trainer travels to you with the full training kit, including manikins and defibrillator trainers, and you pay one fixed fee for up to 12 learners.
We deliver on site across Southend-on-Sea, including Leigh-on-Sea, Westcliff-on-Sea, Thorpe Bay, Shoeburyness, Eastwood and Prittlewell, as well as neighbouring Rochford, Rayleigh, Hadleigh and Benfleet.
Southend schools can also book whole-staff allergy awareness training, which every school in England has been required to provide since September 2026.
First Aid Cover For Southend Workplaces
Southend’s employers are varied. Seafront hospitality and leisure venues, high street retail, care homes, schools and nurseries, the hospital and the airport all sit within a few miles of each other, and each carries different risks. A seafront venue that takes on seasonal staff and opens late has very different first aid needs from an office or a care home.
That is why HSE asks employers to base their provision on a first aid needs assessment that looks at the workplace, the workforce, the hazards and the working patterns, including shift cover, holidays and absences. The number of staff alone does not give you the answer.
Our free first aid needs assessment calculator takes about two minutes and gives you a written starting point you can keep with your health and safety records.
