If you are in Wickford or Rayleigh, Essex Medical Training is your local first aid training centre. We are based at Battlesbridge, on the Wickford side of the River Crouch, about ten minutes from Wickford town centre and fifteen from Rayleigh. Scheduled courses run here every month, and we also deliver training at workplaces, schools and nurseries across Wickford, Runwell, Shotgate, Rayleigh, Rawreth, Hullbridge, Hockley and South Woodham Ferrers.
Every course is taught by a healthcare professional from a frontline ambulance or emergency department background. Learners spend most of the day practising on manikins and each other, with scenarios built around the kind of workplace they come from.

First Aid Courses In Wickford
All scheduled courses run at our Battlesbridge centre. Prices are per person and exclude VAT. Course books, certificates and refreshments are included.
First Aid Cover For Wickford And Rayleigh Workplaces
Wickford and Rayleigh have a mix of lower-hazard and higher-hazard employers side by side: shops, offices, GP and dental practices, schools and care homes in the town centres, and manufacturing, vehicle, trade and storage businesses on the industrial estates at Wickford, Shotgate, Rayleigh Weir and along the A127 and A130.
For a lower-hazard workplace, HSE’s suggested starting point is an appointed person where you have fewer than 25 employees, at least one first aider trained in Emergency First Aid at Work from 25 to 50, and at least one first aider with the full First Aid at Work qualification for every 100 employees once you have more than 50. For higher-hazard work, such as engineering, vehicle repair, warehousing or construction, the thresholds fall: at least one first aider from five employees, and one First Aid at Work first aider for every 50 above that.
Those are starting points, not the answer. Shift patterns, lone workers, visitors and customers on the premises, and holiday and sickness cover all push the number up. Schools must also allow for pupils, and early years settings have their own paediatric first aid requirement.
Our free first aid needs assessment calculator turns your staff numbers, hazard level and working pattern into a written result you can file with your risk assessments.

Training At Your Premises In Wickford Or Rayleigh
Because we are so close, local employers have a real choice: send people to us a few at a time as places come up, or have us bring the course to your site when you have a group. On site, nobody travels, the scenarios can be built around your own building and risks, and you choose the dates.
We bring the trainer, manikins, defibrillator trainers and all other equipment. You provide a room. The price is one fixed fee for up to 12 learners, with no travel charge in Wickford, Runwell, Shotgate, Rayleigh, Rawreth, Hullbridge, Hockley or South Woodham Ferrers.
For Emergency First Aid at Work, on-site training costs less than individual places once you have seven or more people to train. For the three-day First Aid at Work course, the figure is eight. With fewer people than that, booking places on our scheduled courses is usually the better value.
