First Aid Cover For Brentwood Workplaces

Brentwood’s employers are mostly lower-hazard: offices and professional services around the town centre, Shenfield and Warley, retail and hospitality on the High Street, schools and colleges, GP and dental practices, and care homes across the borough. The exceptions are the construction, groundworks and logistics businesses working along the A12 and A127 corridors, which HSE treats as higher hazard.

For a lower-hazard workplace, HSE’s suggested starting point is an appointed person where you have fewer than 25 employees, at least one first aider trained in Emergency First Aid at Work from 25 to 50, and at least one first aider with the full First Aid at Work qualification for every 100 employees once you have more than 50. For higher-hazard work the thresholds fall: at least one first aider from five employees, and one First Aid at Work first aider for every 50 above that.

Those are starting points, not the answer. Split sites, lone workers, staff who travel, visitors and customers on the premises, and holiday and sickness cover all push the number up. Schools must also allow for pupils, and early years settings have their own paediatric first aid requirement.

Our free first aid needs assessment calculator turns your staff numbers, hazard level and working pattern into a written result you can file with your risk assessments.

Getting To Us From Brentwood

Essex Medical Training
Unit 3, Mayphil Industrial Estate, Hawk Hill, Battlesbridge, Essex SS11 7RJ

From Brentwood town centre the centre is about 16 miles by road, usually around 30 minutes: take the A127 east to the A130, then north to Battlesbridge. From Ingatestone and Mountnessing the A12 and A130 via Howe Green is about the same. Parking on site is free.

By train, travel from Brentwood or Shenfield to Wickford and change for the Crouch Valley line; Battlesbridge is the first stop.

First aid courses run from 09:00 to 16:00, with tea and coffee provided.

Training At Your Brentwood Premises

Brentwood is at the far end of our patch, so for a group it almost always makes more sense for the course to come to you. Nobody travels, the scenarios can be built around your own building and risks, and you choose the dates. Schools often use an INSET day; offices often split a team across two one-day courses so the business keeps running.

We bring the trainer, manikins, defibrillator trainers and all other equipment. You provide a room. The price is one fixed fee for up to 12 learners, with no travel charge anywhere in the Brentwood borough, including Shenfield, Hutton, Warley, Pilgrims Hatch, Ingatestone, Mountnessing, Herongate and West Horndon.

For Emergency First Aid at Work, on-site training costs less than individual places once you have seven or more people to train. For the three-day First Aid at Work course, the figure is eight.

Prices You Can See

Per-person and group prices are published, with books, certificates and travel included. We are not the cheapest and we do not try to be.

Hands-On From The Start

Learners spend most of the course practising on manikins and each other, with scenarios drawn from their own kind of workplace.
